Šakotis

Our sweet neighbors are originally from Lithuania. They brought us this fantastic Šakotis when they came back from a trip to their native country. I didn't know about Šakotis before but it's a traditional Lithuanian cake baked over a fire while the dough is gradually poured onto a rotating stick.

It looks like a beautiful snow covered pine and it tastes delicious. Šakotis means "tree with many branches". Very poetic.
